AZ Canteen is stocking up for the zombie food crawl this Saturday
Courtesy AZ Canteen
This Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., the Quarantine Zone at 4th & Portland will be the site of the first World Brain Eating Championship
. A number of professional competitive eaters are signed up to participate, including Joey "Jaws" Chestnut
. This year, Chestnut defended and maintained his number one spot at the Nathan's Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest by beating his own record and consuming 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes.
If you're thinking they'll probably go easy on contestants and serve some brain stand-in like a pile of dyed pasta or Jell-o in a brain mold, you'd be wrong.

The event will be hosted by Andrew Zimmern's AZ Canteen
food truck, which will supply real veal brain tacos to all the hungry zombies. Top prize for the brain eating is $1,000, but the only way to get chance at the big cash is to be one of the three talented locals who won last month's ZPC donut eating contest sponsored by Glam Doll Donuts
. Those lucky three have already been crowned, but you can still show up to witness the brain eating action. The raspberry curd-filled brain donuts pictured above are still available for a limited time at the Glam Doll Donuts shop.
Tickets to the crawl are $35 (the price jumps to $40 on the day of the event) and are still available for purchase online here
