Nye's Polonaise Room featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives tonight
Guy Fieri features Nye's on the Food Network's hit show tonight
Nye's Polonaise Room is being featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives tonight. The famed local establishment can add tonight's appearance on the Food Network's hit show to a long list of press accolades, including appearances on Good Morning America. In 2006, Nye's was named "Best Bar in America" by Esquire magazine.
Now rock 'n' roll chef Guy Fieri will weigh in on the Minneapolis institution with his trademark goofy catchphrases. Anyone watching in the Twin Cities should know that Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives was created by a Minnesota producer, which we detailed in our October cover story, "Diners, Drive-Ins and Disasters."
Plymouth producer David Page created the show in 2006, giving the Food Network a runaway hit and launching Guy Fieri's career into the stratosphere. But then Page had a falling out with Fieri and his posse, the "Garlic Mafia," and Fieri demanded that Page be taken off the show.
Page sued the Food Network for breach of contract, which the Network settled. Read our feature for more details.
In the meantime, anyone interested in watching the show can do so at Nye's tonight, or tune into the Food Network at 9. Nye's viewing party will feature the restaurant's Prime Dip, pierogis, and stuffed cabbage rolls.
Tonight's episode, "Time Tested Treasures," will also feature Moseberth's Fried Chicken in Portsmouth, Virgina and R&R Taqueria in Elkridge, Maryland.
No doubt the food at the latter eatery will be better than Fieri's "No Can Beato This Taquito" recipe.
