The Chef's Choice platter at Mt. Fuji.
Maple Grove's Mt. Fuji opened a new Uptown branch in the former Mysore--will it break 2819 Hennepin's curse?
According to the Southwest Journal, the restaurant opened March 31 for lunch, dinner, and late-night dining--midnight on weekdays and 2 a.m. on weekends. It also hits all the necessary Uptown amenities: a full bar, takeout, delivery, and a several happy hour specials.
The menu features hibachi entrees, seafood, noodle and rice dishes, ranging from $13 to $26, and "French style sushi," though I'm not really sure what that means? I can't say I ate sushi when I was in France--do they decorate the platters with little paper berets in lieu of plastic grass? A quick google led me to Jeremy Iggers' speculations:
The last place I went that offered "French-style sushi" was the Mt. Fuji in Maple Grove, which serves up neon day-glo fantasies on the theme of sushi far more elaborate than anything dreamed of in the land of the rising sun.
I'll let you know what I find out about French-style sushi and what they've done to improve the awkwardness of the space after I visit...
