New Belgium Brewing has got us pegged: If there's anything Twin Citians like best, it's bikes and beer. And if we can get beer while on our bikes? All the better. See also: Tour de Fat
Tour de Fat (not that fat; bike-tire fat) will once again be regaling Loring Park with beery, bikey antics, leading a caravan carnival into the park by encouraging cyclists to dress up in their "alter egos," jump on the cycle, and you know, drink some beer.
The mustachioed, gorilla suited, tall handlebar event will take place this year on July 25, and will include musical performances, yo-yo entertainers, vaudeville acts, and a 1,000 person dance competition to win a New Belgium cruiser bike.
The carnival concludes with a celebration of car-for-bike swappers, brave souls who hand over their car keys as a commitment to commute by bike for the next year.
