More free beer for shutout government employees
Though it's a sorry consolation for lost wages and a defunct government, furloughed federal government employees will be able to claim a free beer at participating St. Paul bars every Tuesday until the government shutdown ends. Known as "Tuesday Brews Day," the offer was first organized by Visit Saint Paul, the city's convention and visitors bureau, at the beginning of the month. With many government employees still home-bound for the foreseeable future, the offer has been extended, and the number of participating bars has doubled.
Each Tuesday, the following bars will offer a free domestic bottle or draft beer from 4 to 6 p.m to anyone with a valid federal government ID:
