The Pi Press reports that potatoes will be replacing bacon as this year's state fair go-to food, featuring "fry dogs" (french-fry encrusted hot dogs), "Texas tater dogs" (spiral-cut potatoes speared with German sausage), and "tornado potatoes" (tater dogs sans dogs). Other items on the fair menu will include peach-glazed pig cheeks: cheeks marinated in honey, herbs, garlic and Worcestershire sauce, slow cooked for four hours, chilled, and grilled with a peach glaze, as well as "pot roast sundae," "sunfish filets in a boat," and deep-fried Norwegian banana splits.
