Minnesota Project spearheads fruit gleaning effort
The good folks over at Minnesota Project are starting up a fruit gleaning project next month, an effort to collect peoples' excess fruit for donation to area foodshelves. Its mission?
Families that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford fresh fruit will get it; Tree owners won't have to deal with disposing of wasted fruit; and Volunteers will get to take home a few pounds of delicious fruit for themselves!
What's not to like? The org is looking for volunteer pickers as well as trees.
Alternately ... want all that fruit for yourself? There's a group for you too, though still a little early to cash in.
