Busy week! The Mill City Farmers Market returns on Saturday, and don't forget to honor mom on Sunday with something especially delicious this Week in Food.
5/8 Creating a fun, tasty dessert doesn't have to take hours or require a long list of ingredients. With the right items in your pantry, you can satisfy your sweet tooth with homemade goodies that are quick and easy to make. Urban Relish instructors Mary Jo and Kelly will host the Dessert Pantry class at Linden Hills Co-op and will cook one-pan brownies, scrumptious bars, and even a quick cake so that students will have the skills to satisfy their sweet cravings when they strike. Class runs 6:30-8 p.m. and costs $25 for nonmembers, $20 for members. To preregister call the service desk at 612.922.1159.
5/9 Celebrate all things Summit at Kincaid's five-course Summit beer dinner Wednesday night. Summit's Summer Ale, Pilsner, EPA, Cask, and Great Northern Porter will each be paired with a course like beet and watermelon salad, seafood cassoulet, and chocolate panna cotta. The cost of the meal is $55 plus tax and tip, and you can nab yourself a seat by calling 651.602.9000.
5/10 Join Spoonriver chef Brenda Langton during this exclusive evening in which guests will taste some of the delights from Mill City Farmers Market, learn about new recipes, and celebrate the launch of her new book The Spoonriver Cookbook. The event begins at 7 p.m. at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and costs $10 for member, $15 for non-members.
5/12 It's opening day! The Mill City Farmers Market returns with farm-fresh foods and local fine art and crafts -- all perfect for honoring mom. Bring your grocery list and hit up all the vendors, and be sure to check out local authors Kim Ode, Tricia Cornell, and Brett Laidlaw, who will all be on hand signing their respective books. The market runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
5/13 It's Mother's Day, so take mom out for a lush and pampered brunch at the Nicollet Island Inn. With five courses that range from creme brulee French toast to duck confit and hash (and loads of champagne) you know she'll be impressed. The meal, which is available 9:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m., will cost $36 per person. Reservations are recommended by calling 612.331.1800.
