The weather is finally turning, which means snuggies, raging bowls of fiery chili, and the Midtown Global Market's annual chili cook-off.
The event is open to all and features chilis made from several of the Market's most popular vendors. Proceeds benefit homeless and at-risk families in search of transitional housing.
The cook-off will pit a variety of chilis from around the world against one another -- giving tasters a chance to experience a range of global flavors. All of the ingredients used in the chilis are things that can be purchased in the market.
A suggested donation of $3 will buy your way to sampling the many competing chilis. You'll also have an opportunity to vote on which market vendor takes home the coveted "People's Choice" award.
Previous market participants in the chili cook-off include Manny's Torta's, Pham's Deli, A La Salsa, and the Rabbit Hole, who told us that this year, you can expect their chili to be "India spicy!"
The money raised from the event will go to an organization called Perspectives, which provides a variety of services for women and families plagued by addiction, suffering from mental illness, or threatened by poverty.
The event will be held on November 9 from noon to 2 p.m. at Midtown Global Market. For more information on the event, keep checking Midtown Global Market's Facebook page, or you can visit MidtownGlobalMarket.org.
