Meet local food writers at Magers & Quinn

Dedicated foodies take note: The eminent Minneapolis bookstore Magers & Quinn is presenting a feast of prominent local food writers in late November and early December, all of them with new books to share.

First up is the editor of the indispensable online food magazine Heavy Table (and former City Pages food writer), James Norton, and photographer Becca Dilley, who discuss their new book The Master Cheesemakers of Wisconsin on Sunday, November 29, at 4:30pm. The husband-and-wife team traveled for weeks in our neighboring state to talk with and photograph some of the world's most skilled artisan cheesemakers, who collectively craft more than six hundred types of cheese.

Next, Minnesota Monthly's food critic Dara Moskowitz Grumdahl (also formerly with City Pages) talks about her new book Drink This!: 473 Answers to Your Most Impolite Questions About Wine, on Friday, December 4. at 7:30pm. Her new guide makes wine drinking and buying simpler and less intimidating in an easy-to-read format that includes interviews with big-time winemakers, chefs, and critics.

Finally, Mitch Omer, owner and chef of Hell's Kitchen, makes an appearance at Magers & Quinn on Saturday, December 19, at 1 p.m. to talk about his cookbook Damn Good Food, which includes more than 150 recipes from his famed restaurant and a few well-chosen stories from Omer's colorful life.
