Lynden's Soda Fountain to open in Kopplin's old space, and a possible new Whole Foods

Looks like Eat Street Social may not be the only place to get a decent egg cream around here. Come April, the former Kopplin's Coffee storefront in St.Paul at Hamline and Randolph will be transformed into an old-fashioned soda fountain. Lynden's Soda Fountain will serve ice cream and ice cream drinks, as well as draft root beer, egg creams, phosphates, and other nostalgic favorites, but they plan to do so with "a modern point of view," according to their website. Construction seems to be moving along steadily, and we can imagine they'll be a popular after-burger spot for frequenters of nearby Casper and Runyon's Nook

A few weeks ago, we posted about Whole Foods coming to downtown in 2013, but rumors are starting to pop up about another possible Whole Foods in the works. Where might it be built?

The Ultimate Electronics store at the Shops in Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove is the possible new site for the next suburban Whole Foods, reports Minneapolis/St.Paul Business Journal. The general manager of the Shops at Arbor Lakes would not name Whole Foods explicitly as the company taking over the space, but she did confirm with the Journal that they are negotiating that space with a national retailer.
