Lumberjack Days in Stillwater: A Paul Bunyon approved road trip
We are desperately trying to pack in as much road trip and food festival fun into summer as humanly possible. And since Stillwater is so close, Lumberjack Days can be a getaway for those who don't have the time to get away. Bringing together all the elements that make festivals so fun--food, drink, and music--Lumberjack Days adds the beautiful scenery of the St. Croix River to the pot.
The Hot Dish spoke with Lumberjack Days' event coordinator, David Mooney, who told us some of the best reasons to go to the festival: "The scene on the St. Croix is a people-watcher's paradise as boats line up all the way to Wisconsin. And the only night the festival has a gate fee is on Saturday night, which will be $10 to see the band Chicago, so it's also a great deal." Friday night will be an especially swell evening to come and see Minneapolis legends the Suburbs. Mooney added that he was thrilled to offer a greater variety of food vendors this year including:
Aristos Greek and Mediterranean Restaurant Barrio Nitro Ice Cream Minneapple Pie, deep-fried apple pies Uff-Da Tacos Caribbean international Foods, which will serve tilapia, plantains, and beef or chicken with rice.
Vendors from all over the country will be represented, including several BBQ stands and all the standard festival fare, plus Joseph's Family Restaurant will host a pie baking contest.
