Local D'Lish kicks off winter farmers market this Saturday
Good news for industrious sous chefs, weekend dinner party hosts, and smug couples in the metro area: The farmers market is back.
Saturday, November 19, marks the first indoor winter farmers market of the season, hosted by the North Loop neighborhood's local-foods grocery store, Local D'Lish. The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the third Saturday of every month until April. Store owner Ann Yin says to "expect to see some of your favorite vendors from the Mill City Farmers Market. They'll be the staples, but we plan to feature a few additional vendors each month. There should be about 20 vendors at every market."
This Saturday promises products from Singing Hills Dairy, meat from Minnesota Valley Organics, cheese from Shepherd's Way, and all-natural soft drinks from Joia Soda. Yin says they will also have "a limited number of Ferndale Market turkeys available. Several pre-orders have already been placed, but we should have a few for shoppers too."
This is the fourth year that Yin and her husband/co-owner, Yulin, have held the indoor market in their store. "I know there is a weekly market in St. Paul too, but ours is much bigger. I think having it only once a month means better attendance. People can kind of prepare for it," says Yin. There is certainly a lot to look forward to: vendors at December's market will sell special gift baskets. "We'll also be selling the North Loop gift basket which will feature all kinds of products and goodies from neighborhood businesses."
Checks and cards are now accepted, but cash is encouraged.
