8/24 Tim McKee and Jim Christiansen host a kitchen table series dinner at Il Gatto tonight, one they're describing as "an interactive feast." Seasonal ingredients from local farmers will make up the 20-plus dishes you'll be digging into at this family-style meal, including antipasti, sides, main courses, and dessert. Dining times are staggered to allow McKee and Christiansen to interact with guests, so here's your chance to bend their respective ears. The cost is $45 and seatings begin at 6:30 p.m. (you'll be at a table with seven other diners). For reservations call 612.822.1688.

If boats are more your bag, then check out Bacchus's 16th annual Beer and Wine Cruise on the Mississippi, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: For three hours you'll float on a Padelford Riverboat from Harriet Island north toward Fort Snelling while sampling over 120 wines, beers, and ciders from around the world. Light food and door prizes will also be part of the fun. Boarding begins at 5:30 p.m. and the boat returns at 9 p.m. To sign up for this $55 cruise call 612.342.2437 ext. 921.
