Learn about urban fruit trees at Common Roots

itemprop

Californians may have the luxury of lemon or loquat trees right in their backyards, but you'd be surprised how many varieties of fruit trees can survive in Minnesota. (I've seen several fruit-laden cherry trees in someone's yard near Lake Nokomis.) If you're interested in learning more about urban fruit trees, check out this month's Local Food Happy Hour at Common Roots Cafe, tomorrow, Tuesday, April 21st, from 5 to 7pm (2558 Lyndale Ave. S, Minneapolis).

Jennifer Blecha will speak about the Minnesota Project's new Fruit of the City projects which are designed to help city residents and community groups plant fruit trees and orchards, care for existing fruit trees, and harvest otherwise-wasted fruit for food banks.
