Fussing about where the best tacos in town are is one of our state pastimes. But it can get boring to fume around your living room hollering the merits of Sonora vs. Taco Taxi while your roommate sits there with his earbuds in, quietly perusing the "roommates" section of Craigslist.
Instead, jump on a bus, on a bike, or into your trainers and share that passion with others who care, and care a lot, at the second annual Taco Tour on Lake Street. Here's how it works:
The tours are free, and if you register online ahead of time you get two free tacos (free tacos!) and deep discounts on the next stops after that, at any or all of the nine stops.
Choose to go via shuttle bus, scooping up passengers and shuttling down Lake Street from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from the starting place at the Lake Street K Mart Parking Lot (taco trucks!), or choose to travel via bike or on foot on your own time, alone or with a group.
The bike start point is at La Alborada Market, 1855 E. Lake St., and the walking start point is Supermercado La Mexicana at 1522 E. Lake St.
Since the tour attracted more than 1,500 participants last year, they do ask that you register.
At each participating restaurant, learn about their particular specialties, inspirations, roots in the community, and you know, tacos. Vegetarian options will be available.
