From the moment you're greeted at the door, you will find yourself treated like royalty. Even better, if you aren't dining on a Daddy Warbucks budget and are feeling more casual, it's possible to taste their heavenly food in the Lounge -- where a la carte dishes are available for a little bit less than the dining room's epic tasting menu. (Although that tasting menu is an experience every food fiend should experience, at least once a year.)

One dish on the current menu is a pure plate of spring, the sweet pea tortelli. Its shimmering green colors are like the newly popped leaves. It's fresh, new, and pristine. House-made pasta is gently coaxed into tortelli shape. It's a deceptively simple dish that can only be executed at this level by a deft chef's hand. It's topped with strips of tender zucchini in repose, preserved lemon, and hunks of king crab. Threads of the sweet seafood flesh break upon the palate like ocean waves crashing on a craggy shore, surrendering to your mouth's indulgence. Silky, tart shreds of preserved lemon bring a crest of sour flavor before being washed back by that tender pasta, pure baby pea flavor as that creamy tortelli interior laps against the tongue, bringing each flavorful bite to a sweet, mellow finish. It's a heavenly sort of springtime, made all the more delicious by how fleeting it is.
