Both 2012 and 2013 have been kind to Twin Cities restaurants, and the national recognition just keeps rolling in. This week the restaurant reservation website Open Table has published its 2013 list of the top 100 restaurants in the country with the best service, and Minneapolis fine-dining restaurant La Belle Vie has made the grade. According to Open Table, the list is based on more than five million user reviews over the past year.
La Belle Vie is no stranger to national recognition. In 2008 the Zagat Survey rated La Belle Vie the top restaurant in America, and in 2009 executive chef Tim McKee was awarded the James Beard Foundation's "Best Chef Midwest" award (he was the first Twin Cities chef to receive the award).
The website uses customer feedback from its post-dining surveys to rate the restaurants.
In other LBV award-related news, this year the James Beard Foundation has again added several members of the LBV crew to its list of semifinalists up for the prized James Beard Award. The annual James Beard Awards are essentially the Academy Awards for food nerds. Making the list of semifinalists this year are multiple-time nominee Tim McKee for "Outstanding Chef" and La Belle Vie's chef de cuisine Mike DeCamp for "Best Chef Midwest."
