It's not hard to imagine why the family-owned restaurant would make the list. Stepping inside the shop and being greeted by the garlic and sauerkraut perfume is like a warm embrace from days past. The deli case and bakery are packed with dishes reflecting Northeast's Eastern European heritage.

The store was founded in 1954 when Ukranian immigrants Wasyl and Anna Kramarczuk took over the space from one of the oldest butcher shops in the cities. The Kramarczuk Sausage Co. has been in its current location since 1967. It has stayed in the family; their son Orest is now the primary owner. He will travel to New York to receive the award at the May 6 gala.

Kramarczuck's joins past Minnesota winners of the America's Classics, Al's Breakfast in Dinkytown and the Pickwick in Duluth.
