The Minnesota State Fair starts in less than a week, and those who can't control their cravings for the next six days can find some relief in Kemps' recently launched, limited-edition "Hometown Favorite" Sweet Martha's Cookie Dough Ice Cream, which will be on grocery store shelves through August.

Then, when you go to the fair, you can participate in choosing Kemps' next Hometown Flavor as the two finalists in their recent flavor contest will be subjected to a lick-off.

Here's what you need to know:

The first flavor, Land of 10,000 Licks, was created by Jennifer Folkens of Rogers and involves caramel, toffee, and sea salt swirled into a base of sweet cream ice cream. The second, Pubcorn and Peanuts, was submitted by Kelly Moritz of St. Paul and mixes salted peanuts and dark chocolate with popcorn-flavored ice cream.

If you'd like to taste the competing flavors, they'll be available at the Kemps booth near Machinery Hill every day at 1 p.m. On September 1, a panel of celebrity judges will cast their votes, which will be combined with online and on-site votes, to choose who will receive a $2,500 prize and the honor of having her flavor made for retail sale in 2012--as well as a year's supply of the product.
