'Iron Fork' chef competition fires up Thursday
You can watch six of the Twin Cities' top chefs at their creative best Thursday night when they engage in a culinary shootout at City Pages' annual Iron Fork competition. Cooking masters from Cosmos, Saffron, Solera and more will show off their skills in a format loosely based on the Food Network's Iron Chef. The chefs are given a box of ingredients containing pantry staples and one mystery ingredient--out of which they must invent, on the spot, an appetizing and healthy dish, with the winner determined by a panel of judges.
But there's more to Iron Fork than the competition. Guests can sample the signature dishes from 25 local restaurants (including Red Stag Supper Club, Pizza Luce, French Meadow, and Dancing Ganeesha) plus beer, liquor and wine samples--all included in the ticket price. Proceeds will benefit Second Harvest Heartland.
Iron Fork fires up Thursday (October 15) at International Market Square from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance (at Surdyk's Liquor and Cheese Shop till 6:00 p.m. Thursday) or $45 at the door.
The chefs competing this year are JP Samuelson of Solera, Sameh Wadi from Saffron, Hakan Lundberg at Cosmo's, Randall Toenges from Le Cordon Bleu, Matt Hinman of Happy Gnome, and Emily Noble, the winner of Surdyk's amateur contest.
