Ike's Food and Cocktails to open in Minnetonka
Carl "Chip" Isaacson, owner of the downtown eatery Ike's Food and Cocktails, famous for its monster 20-ounce, salad-in-a-glass bloody Mary called the Weekender, recently announced plans to expand his empire to Minnetonka.
The 1940s style supper club will take over the building that was once home to Italian restaurant Prima at the intersection of Highways 101 and 7. Finance and Commerce reports that the combination of sky-high property taxes and difficult access to the space have proved challenging for former owners.
Hopefully Isaacson's business savvy and loyal following will give him an edge at this third location, set to open sometime in April 2012. Ike's second location in the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport was named one of the 10 best airport restaurants in the country by Frommers in 2011.
