Ideal Diner in Northeast: Closed
The current owner has run the diner for 32 years but is now looking for a buyer
Sad news for fans of crispy hash browns: The Ideal Diner, which had originally closed under the guise of vacation, now looks to be taking a permanent vacation under owner Kevin Kelzenberg, who has run the tiny spot for 32 years. In an April 6 Facebook update, the restaurant confirmed it is closed and looking for a buyer.

Although the diner in northeast Minneapolis had just 13 counter seats, it has built a loving following of fans that grew up loving the burgers and affordable breakfast. The diner has been open since 1949 and has been owned by just three people.
