Honey's Angel's Share blends gin with jelly. Sweet.
|Sweet as honey.|
Honey is the sweet new place in Northeast that is part of the Ginger Hop family, in the space that formerly housed Jitter's. While basement bars and restaurants can cause claustrophobia, decending the stairs to Honey feels like discovering a secret gem. With a cool drink list that inludes the Sazerac, and accordianist Mark Stillman and songbird Francine Roche every Thursday, it was so nice to sip this cocktail in an atmosphere reminiscent of a French cabaret.
While so many choices on the drink list are inviting, the Angel's Share won my attention. Made with just two ingredients--Martin Miller's Gin, which has a very distinct frangrance of cinnamon and cloves, and a bit of red currant jelly to add a parallel sweetness. The juniper of the gin also brings a little of the forest to the mix. All these flavors blend in heavenly union, without any one note taking over. The ruby red color of the cocktail is lovely in the jewel-toned bar. Ooh la la.
