Hennepin County may get its own food truck court
Taking a cue from downtown St. Paul's Wednesday food truck court across from Government Center and the new Thursday food truck court (starting May 3) gathering on Kellogg Boulevard near Robert Street, Hennepin County is making plans to allow vendors to set up shop in the plaza outside their own Government Center, the Star Tribune reports.
For those who work and lunch in the area, the announcement that the County Board granted preliminary approval means more options for grab-and-go meals, but for food truck owners this news actually means their possibilities are limited. Trucks with generators will not be allowed and they will only be able to sell food that is prepackaged or fully prepared in advance, meaning no cooked-to-order burgers or individually fried batches of doughnuts.
