Gather's chef-in-residence for May, Jim Christiansen of Union
Gather by D'Amico hosts Jim Christiansen tomorrow night
The first Thursday of every month, Gather, the D'Amico owned restaurant inside the Walker Art Center invites a celebrated local chef to take over the kitchen for one night. This month Jim Christiansen, head chef at the downtown hot spot Union will be making two complimentary small dishes. Plus, there will be a special cocktail they will be making to pair with these dishes.
The first dish Christiansen will prepare is a roasted red prawn with artichoke, fava beans, and lemon balm with brown butter. The other dish is burrata (fresh buffalo's milk cheese), whipped pesto, and pine nuts, with a mix of greens including watercress, sorrel, and nasturtium. Samples of each dish are complimentary. Available for quaffing with these little bites, is a "Poppytonik," ginger-lime infused Sauza tequila, pomegranate, tonic, and lime for $5.
As with every first Thursday, entrance to the museum will also be free. It certainly sounds like an ideal cheap date night to us.
Next month on June 2, the guest chef(s) in residence will hail from the temporarily closed Travail. They will be assisting in Gather's 2nd birthday celebration. Maybe by then the snow will have finally melted and we can get out on that gorgeous terrace.
