It may be a small token of appreciation, but at least it's a cheesy one.
In honor of Veterans Day, the famed 5-8 Club will be giving away free burgers to vets at all three of their locations.
The only restrictions are that you have to dine-in (no take-out orders) and you can't get any of the Juicy (yes 5-8 is the one that puts an "i" in their Juicy) Lucy "cheese-tastic challenge" specialties. Everything else is fair game, including the recently re-released Turkey Juicy Lucy, a burger with a charitable bent. For every Turkey Juicy Lucy sold at each location, the 5-8 will make a donation to one of the three following organizations: The Minnehaha Food Shelf (for Cedar Ave. location), the Junior League of St. Paul's "Backpack Buddies" program (for Maplewood location), and the Community Emergency Assistance Program (for Champlin location).
Just present military identification to show that you've served and the staff at any of the 5-8 locations will happily serve you a free burger. Thank you to our veterans. We salute you.
Now don't burn your mouth on that molten cheese.
