itemprop

After the past few weeks of merry-go-round weather events (a snowstorm and shorts weather on the same day; where it stops nobody knows!), we're a little bewildered and worse for the wear.

Kabomelette: Kabobs and omelettes! In an intelligent move catering to early market goers, the chefs of this truck utilize market produce to serve fresh omelets for breakfast, and then move into the kebob game for lunch. Can't decide? Get both for a fun take on steak and eggs.

Peep's Hot Box: Hot up-and-coming chef Jessi Peine is all over the place these days: She's part of the kitchen crew at heralded Haute Dish, she's been brewery-hopping over the winter with her farmstead cheese platters and now it's time to reintroduce her eclectic and innovative food truck, Peeps. She's an expert hurache-maker, and she is former executive chef of Fuji Ya, so you'll also find yakitori, but farm-fresh Midwestern faves make their way into the rotation too: heirloom tomato tarts (in season) and big, hulking egg salad sandwiches. You'll have to go in order to see what she's got up her sleeve.

The Moral Omnivore A husband-and-wife team who want to bring you delicious flavors in an ethical manner. Known for their curried mushroom fries, beet sliders, and fried tomato BLTs, these are the folks to seek out if your flexitarianism leans more toward the vegetable than animal world.

Wild Earth Woodfired Pizza Smoke billowing from a roving pizza oven is a singularly enchanting thing. Remember Red Wagon? They're now a charming brick-and-mortar in south Minneapolis doing a bang up business including thrice weekly brunches. So now there's room for another wagon. Wild Earth makes a maple-infused sourdough crust in a handmade oven using farmers' market booty for toppings, naturally.

The market will announce additional participating trucks as the event draws nearer.

The Midtown Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday from May 2 through October 24. Starting June 2, the market will also be open every Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. through October 27.
