First Ave to host St. Patrick's Day Rally for Sunday Sales
Tired of scrambling to get to the liquor store before it closes on Saturday? You're not alone. MN Beer Activists has organized a fundraising concert to support legalizing Sunday alcohol sales in Minnesota.
The concert will take place at First Avenue on one of the busiest beer drinking days of the year, St. Patrick's Day, and will include music from Romantica, White Iron Band, Silverback Colony, and Mark Andrew, a former contestant on The Voice. The festivities will be hosted by none other than Ian Rans of Drinking with Ian.
"Most of Minnesota supports the issue," says event organizer and MN Beer Activists Director Andrew Schmitt. "It wasn't that hard [to organize the line-up]." At present, Schmitt notes, Minnesota regulations "send money over our borders every single week."
"One of my biggest frustrations is waking up on a Sunday to watch football and having forgot to buy myself beer the day before," notes performer Mark Andrew. "The Vikings just aren't the same with a glass of pinot."
In addition to offering some of Minnesota's finest live entertainers, the concert will collect signatures for a Sunday Sales petition and will raise funds to be used in lobbying the cause. Tickets can be purchased here. They are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
