As a countdown to the Best of the Twin Cities 2016, coming April 20, we're serving up 100 of our favorite local dishes. Here are the best dishes, drinks, snacks, and sweet treats we encountered over the last year.

Even if you’re not a morning person, the raspberry cream scone from the ovens of Sun Street Breads will have you jumping out of bed with a spring in your step. Sure, this delectable breakfast treat is a bit of an indulgence; it’s chock-full of butter and cream and carbs. But it also has a layer of raspberries in the middle, and that counts toward your daily intake of fruit, right?

If you think you don’t like scones, that’s probably because you’ve had a run-in with the mass-produced coffee shop version that can be so dry it’s hard to swallow without copious amounts of latte to wash it down. Not so with the Sun Street scone.

These square beauties are biscuity yet moist and light at the same time, and not overly sweet. Instead of mixing raspberries into the dough, they’re layered in the middle, so you can really taste the brightness of the berries. The top of the pastry has a sparkly sheen to it thanks to a light coating of sugar. The scone is an easy grab-and-go item, but do yourself a favor and snag a table among the neighborhood regulars so you can sit and savor it over a cup of coffee. Hurry up, sleepyhead, these scones go fast.
