It's almost like the crew at Plymouth's Eat Shop Kitchen & Bar are trying to make their jobs harder than necessary. Why not just do as the previous restaurant did and buy prebagged food that only requires a zap in the microwave or a bath in the fryer before being plated up? When they moved in, there wasn't even a stove. Nothing was made by hand. Today, everything is made by hand at this chef-owned joint: the pickles, the salad dressings, the sauces.

The shrimp are dipped in a spicy pimento batter before being fried to tender perfection. The salad is a mix of greens and impossibly juicy marinated tomatoes dressed in the house-made bacon blue cheese vinagrette. There is just a hint of sweetness, stand-up-and-take-notice sourness, brought together with that creamy, pungent blue cheese. It hits every flavor note and need for texture: creamy, crunchy, and just delicious. It's a dish that's worth the drive. Those lucky suburbanites with their ample parking and garage space.
