Easter brunch gorging and beer tasting this Week in Food
If you're a fan of epic Sunday brunches, hollow chocolate bunnies, colored eggs, and the summer's sickest brews, this week is for you. Sure, one of those things is not like the others. You celebrate Easter your way, we'll celebrate it our way...
Monday 4/18 Meet Monday head on with a Caribbean Beer Dinner at Caribe, which promises five courses to accompany five beers: Hennepin Saison, Flat Earth Belgian Pale Ale, La Trappe Quadrupel, Weihenstephaner Hefe, and Lagunitas Maximus IPA. Adam Schulte of Ale Jail hosts the evening of food and ales, which starts at 6 p.m. Reservations for the $65 dinner can be made at 651.641.1446.
Wednesday 4/20 Local cooks Jenny Breen and Susan Thurston offer inspiration to readers in their new book Cooking Up the Good Life: Creative Recipes for the Family Table. Learn about using seasonal ingredients of the upper Midwest (whether you're a beginning cook or a veteran) and talk with the authors at the University of Minnesota Bookstore inside Coffman Memorial Union at 4 p.m.
Thursday 4/21 Being called a geek is a small price to pay for a chance to drink New Belgium Brewery's latest creation, Somersault, for free. Burger Jones is hosting a Beer Geek Kegger Party that promises free brews until the keg runs dry. Pair this summer brew with a cheeseburger and fries for just $5.99 after 9 p.m. Keg gets tapped at 8 p.m., so get your drinking pants on.
Friday 4/22 Get in some pre-Easter fun at the Midtown Global Market's Easter Party, which promises tots the chance to decorate eggs, nosh on candy, decorate cookies, and maybe even land a snap with the Easter Bunny himself. Parents can fortunately troll the market for chocolate-free global fare as well. 5-8 p.m.
Consider packing on some eggs before hitting the jelly beans hard this Sunday
Sunday 4/24 Pack on some eggs and bacon before diving into the sweet treats the bunny left you by hitting up Pazzaluna's Easter Brunch. This Italian-themed breakfast offers favorites like baked egg strata, crab cake Benedict, and Italian sausage with gravy. Pair with a mimosa and you've got the perfect start to Easter Sunday. Brunch runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with reservations recommended. Call 651.223.7000.
If you're looking for a more kid-friendly Easter affair, head to Pinstripes in Edina, where the bunny himself will make an appearance and host an egg hunt. A giant brunch buffet--including a "create your own omelet" station--will also be on hand. Adults can celebrate with free mimosas, too. Activites begin at 9:30 a.m. $28 adults, $14 kids, tots 5 and under free. For reservations call 952.835.6437.
