Like rolling suitcases, Post-its, and prewashed lettuce, it's really amazing we ever did things any other way: booze ought to come to you, not the other way around. It's safer, more civilized, and the cost is minimal, so why not?
Last year we reported on DrinkFly, and now two more alcohol delivery companies have landed in Minneapolis, including one that lets you access the entire hallowed liquor walls of Haskell's.
Beginning May 7, Haskell's is partnering exclusively with Drizly, and drinkers in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Minnetonka, Edina, St. Louis Park, Wayzata, Richfield, and Mendota Heights can place an order to Haskell's via Drizly (just download the app) and have it delivered in less than an hour. There are no fees (except tipping -- you're no doubt familiar with this if you have a pizza delivery man who likes you), and your hooch will land in less than an hour. And hey, kid, before you get any funny ideas -- you gotta present your valid ID at the door.
And for even more fuss-free imbibing, store your credit card with Drizly, and all payment, including the tip, is taken care of electronically (think Uber levels of ease). Drizly is reportedly the industry leader.
Can't decide? Need to contemplate all of this over a few drinks? You're in luck: Drizly has invited you to its launch party on Wednesday, May 6, at the Minneapolis Club (729 Second Ave. S.) at 6 p.m. for complimentary cocktails. RSVP required at: [email protected]
If you're a denizen of downtown Minneapolis, then download the Minibar app, which launched on May 1. If you live downtown, the standard $5 delivery fee will be waived for the month of may.
Their app works similarly -- enter your zip code, the app will scan the inventory list, tap in what you need, and voila -- booze in your apartment vestibule in less than an hour.
