Drink of the Week: Lauria Alpine Cream Liqueur

If you want to indulge in an apres-ski as unique as those moves you're going to debut on the half-pipe at Buck Hill this winter, look no further than Lauria Alpine Cream Liqueur.

Lauria Alpine Cream Liqueur Surdyk's 303 E. Hennepin, Minneapolis; 612.379.3232 $35.59

Brought to the Twin Cities by spirits importer Eric Seed of Haus Alpenz, Lauria is a product of top-quality cream, Pear Williams brandy, and mountain pears of the region surrounding the Austrian Alps. The easiest way to describe it is as a pear version of Baileys, but it has a more complex caramely flavor and the pulpy texture of macerated fresh pears--it might seem odd at first, but, trust me, you'll come to love it.

Drink it neat, poured over vanilla ice cream or into espresso, or in a cocktail like the WH Murray: 2 parts Lauria, 1 part malt whiskey, and a splash of maple syrup.
