Hussong's Resposado Tequila $13.00
with Garden of Aiden compadres $1.50
All of St. Paul is in a tizzy...the new Barrio is finally open! The swanky new digs look super-fine, decorated with candelabras, Mexican wresting masks, and cool artwork. The floor-to-ceiling front windows open to the sidewalk facing Mears Park creating a breezy European-bistro vibe.
Johnny Michael of La Belle Vie created the drink menu and was on hand mixing drinks and training the bar staff on opening night. The bartenders seemed to really knew their stuff, which is not easy with 130 different types of tequila in the house. I was very happy with my recommendation-- a shot of Hussong's Reposado Tequila with a compadres (accompanying chaser) of tomato-cilantro water, known as the Garden of Aiden. The aged tequila was ultra smooth, with just the right amount of burn. The subtlety infused compadres was the perfect companion, clean and garden fresh.
St. Paul Barrio is planning on tweaking their drink menu to create their own unique identity in the coming months. I cannot wait to stop back and see what these mix-masters have in store for us next.
Thanks for heading down 94E to our side of town.
Sincerely, The People of St. Paul
