Drink of the week: Great Waters Brewing Co.'s Saint Peter Ale
St. Peter Pale Ale
In case you haven't heard, the Twin Cities craft beer movement is ragin'. Our humble cities are getting noticed nationally for being so innovative. The drink-geek magazine Imbibe recently named Minneapolis/St Paul as one of "The Fab 5 brightest beacons in America's craft beer resurgence," which makes mama proud.
Like the grandad or crazy uncle of it all, St. Paul's Great Waters Brewing Co. has been hand-crafting their ales since 1997. Know that you are in good hands when you let their beer-meisters set you up with your favorite type --from mean and dark, to polite and mild, or level-headed medium. If you can't decide try a lil' sample of each in a flight. I dig their Saint Peter Ale--it is lightly hopped, balanced, and has no bitterness--only creamy smoothness. Perhaps this dreaminess is the result of Great Waters' beers being brewed from their own spring well--proof that this beer is truly from the land of sky blue waters.
