After a couple of not-so-great attempts at great eats inside the Walker (first Wolfgang Puck, then Gather by D'Amico) the third time looks like it could be the charm.

Local chef Doug Flicker of Piccolo fame (and before that Auriga), is going to be the name behind the new restaurant at the newly remodeled Walker.

From the official press release:

"The name of the place is Esker Grove, referring to two geological aspects of the restaurant's setting: 'Esker' being a serpentine ridge of soil, gravel, and earth deposited by streams of meltwater left from the slow movement of glaciers over time; and "Grove" referring to the newly planted groupings of trees on the hillside, including one that encompasses the restaurant's natural outdoor seating area."

Groovy.

The only menu details thus far are these: It will take a modern, but unfussy approach to vegetable and grain-focused cooking using classic techniques.

The restaurant will offer craft beer, crafted cocktails, and a "tightly focused" coffee menu.

Opens to the public in December.
