Jalapeno poppers have all the makings of a great junk food fix. They're salty, fatty, crunchy, and cheesy, and leave behind a spicy kick--Hot Cheetos, you ain't got nothing on this!

But the typical deep-fried jalapeno popper proves that there can be too much of a good thing when all that gooey goodness leaves a tummy ache in its wake.

The poppers at Cocina del Barrio are a different breed, with a more delicate crust, and filled with a light-and-crumbly Oaxaca cheese. You can eat a whole order yourself and still feel good the next day. The same can't be said for too many of the bar's famous tequila shots, so go easy on those, Cheetah!
