Suburban Indian strip mall restaurants are like going on safari — you only get the good, authentic stuff if you grab your passport and travel. Aside from Darbar and Namaste, there's been a dearth of good Indian in Uptown for years, but that's about to change in a few days. The old Baja Sol space on Hennepin is becoming an India Palace, and it's even gonna have a patio! India Palace is a highly regarded, independently owned chain with locations in Woodbury, Plymouth, Burnsville, and Roseville. Oftentimes these suburban locations sprout up to serve Indian tech workers who have settled here after being hired by big important companies. So, will they have a million varieties of naan: yes. Tandoori: yes. A separate vegetarian menu: yepper. Saag, vindalloo, curry, paneer! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yay! Plus dosa. And a thousand other things. Opens July 20.

So while the city is gaining all these riches, Salsa a la Salsa is shipping its brand of all-things-for-all people Mexican out to the 'burbs. They'll land in the old Macaroni Grill space at 11390 Wayzata Blvd. Why did MG close after 18 years in business? Perhaps they discovered at long last that it is impossible to grill macaroni.
The opening is scheduled for January 2016. It will be Salsa a la Salsa's fourth outlet.
