Heads up, residents of Loring Park: This summer the international burrito chain Chipotle will bring its Cultivate "food, ideas, and music" festival to Minneapolis, and more specifically, to your 'hood.

The event, which is slated for August 23, is designed to be a celebration of sustainability in our food system and will feature a number of national and local chefs, musical acts, and interactive experiences that help festival goers understand the importance of a sustainable food system and the "reality of processed foods."

The Loring Park festival will feature Amanda Frietag of the Food Network's competition cooking show Chopped, along with celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern, and local chefs Jamie Malone, Jack Riebel, Paul Berglund, and Eric Anderson, all of whom are well known for their support of sustainable foods.

The annual Cultivate festival is held in three different cities across the United States, and this year's cities are Minneapolis, San Francisco, and Dallas. This is the fourth year that Chipotle has sponsored the festival and they've even developed a special menu highlighting sustainable food just for the occasion. Festival attendees can look for things like grilled flatbread with barbacoa or pork belly, chicken and Sofritas tacos, a vegetarian baby kale salad with a steak option, and a jasmine rice bowl with pork and chicken meatballs or organic tofu.

Chipotle also says they'll be partnering with a local brewer in each Cultivate city "to create 'Cultivate Farmhouse Ale,' a Saison-style beer that will be exclusively available at each festival."

Currently their Minneapolis partner-brewer hasn't been announced.

Admission to the event is free and will feature musical acts Portugal. The Man., Grouplove, The Mowgli's, Vintage Trouble, and Hunter Hunted.

According to Chipotle executive Mark Crumpacker, "The Cultivate events allow us to bring people together for a celebration of food and music, but also to educate them about how food can be raised responsibly."

Chipotle is also offering a contest on their website, chipotlecultivate.com, for a trip for two to attend Cultivate in the city of their choosing.
