Chino's Uncle Pho + Burger Jones' Hillbilly Hooch
If you haven't had your watermelon in cocktail form yet this summer, it's time to mix up an Uncle Pho, courtesy Chino Latino. Chef Noah Barton believes the drink can have certain aphrodesiac effects. "It turns out watermelon contains phyto-nutrients that enhance blood flow, much like Viagra," he explains, citing recent studies by Texas A&M University.
Uncle Pho Cocktail 4 ounces watermelon juice 1 ½ ounces Absolut Citron Vodka 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice ½ teaspoon sugar (if needed)
Fill a pint glass or cocktail shaker with ice. Add watermelon juice, vodka, lime juice and sugar and shake well. Strain into martini glass and garnish with watermelon wedge. (To make watermelon juice, place peeled seedless watermelon in blender and puree until smooth)
If you need something a little more tame to serve at, say, the family potluck, try the Hillbilly Hooch from Burger Jones:
Hillbilly Hooch 1 Mason Jar filled with ice and 2 mint sprigs 3.5 oz Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Vodka 2 half lemons juiced and the rinds left in Lemonade to fill! Garnish with Mint Sprig
