It's relatively rare -- maybe even a blue moon-level occasion -- for a chef, particularly one at a new restaurant, to be able to go out on the town and have someone else cook for them. So when local chefs do get a chance to get away from their own kitchens, where do they choose to eat? This Chef's Day Off series reveals some of the lusted-after dishes and top restaurant picks of the talented people who shape our local food scene.
Restaurant Alma: Our restaurant is closed on Mondays, so that is the night we get to dine out most often. Unfortunately, a lot of other restaurants are closed on the same day, so on Mondays Alma is our go-to restaurant. We always have great food there.
Nightingale: We visited this place recently and had a great time there. Leaving "early" for us is still usually after 9 p.m., so we really appreciate it when restaurants serve late and when they stick to their posted hours. Nothing is more frustrating than rushing to some place only to find out they closed early because it was dead.
