Cheeky Monkey, popular Selby Avenue deli, closes its doors

Neighborhood residents and sandwich regulars will miss the Cheeky Monkey.

Neighborhood residents and sandwich regulars will miss the Cheeky Monkey.

The casual St. Paul bistro and cafe Cheeky Monkey closed unexpectedly on Sunday, posting a farewell note on its Facebook page and website. The popular spot, known for its creative sandwiches, was a neighborhood fixture for seven years.

The restaurant’s message thanked loyal guests, neighbors, vendors, and staff for their business and friendship, but didn’t give a reason for the closing. Cheeky Monkey’s general manager will be onsite until March 11 to handle a few final items of business, including issuing refunds to customers with unused gift cards.

From the Cheeky Monkey Facebook page:

Cheeky Monkey, after 7 wonderful years, will be closing its doors permanently, effective today, Sunday, February, 28, 2016. To all our loyal guests, neighbors, vendors, and staff we want to say thank you for your business and friendship. We wish you all nothing but the best. For those who have unused gift cards, please send an email to [email protected] and we will issue you a refund. Our General Manager, Andy, will be here for the next two weeks to tie up all loose ends.
