Food trends come and go, but bacon will never go out of style. Why? Because it's just so darn good, we can't help ourselves. Next weekend, bacon-lovers can pay homage to the deliciously crispy treat with the first-annual River Falls Bacon Bash festival.
On Sunday, September 8, the 100 block of East Elm Street will be home to a day full of bacon-centric activities. From cook-offs and a parade of pets (we sincerely hope some of them have bacon costumes) to live music and a craft beer samples, there's something for every bacon lover. Make sure you don't miss out on the pig calling and pig impersonation contest at 1 p.m. It's sure to have you squealing along, too.
The Bacon Bash was just selected as a qualifier for the Bacon World Championship competition, which means that both the amateur and professional winners of the day's bacon cook-offs will be able to compete for the grand-daddy of all bacon trophies (and a sizzling $300,000) in Las Vegas this November.
