Burger geeks and Celtic freaks will delight this week in food

8/8 Start your week with the aptly named Burger and Beer Dinner for Beer Geeks at Burger Jones. A flight of Brooklyn Brewery Summer Ale, Pennant Ale, and Brown Ale will accompany the sliders of your choice (black and blue, mushroom Swiss, or bacon and cheese) and fries for just $25. 8/9 It's time for another French Regional Wine Dinner at Salut, and this time Provence gets top billing. The meal begins with an amuse bouche followed by four courses, all paired with a wine from the region. The price for this quick trip to France is $65, plus tax and gratuity. 8/11 The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum's "Dinner with a Chef" series features popular local chef Lucia Watson tonight as she teaches students about 'August Seasonal Plates.' The menu will include the following: turkey breast with lemon and basil sauce, cous cous salad and black bean salad, summer fruit crostada with cornmeal crust and whipped cream. 8/12 Today is the first day of Irish Fest in St. Paul, which means Harriet Island will be flooded with folks looking to enjoy classic Irish cuisine ... and plenty of native brews. Six local Irish pubs, three private vendors, and three Irish organizations will be providing a variety of Irish dishes and drinks to accompany the weekend's festivities. The festival runs 3-11 p.m. today, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday.
8/14 It's the second Sunday of the month, which means one thing: Kingfield Farmer's Market bake-off! This month contestants will be whipping up their best zucchini recipes for the celebrity judging panel, and awards will be handed out in People's Choice and Pro Choice categories. Winners get their recipes posted on the Farmer's Market website for all to enjoy. Arrive by 10:30 a.m. to see things kick off.
