Bullfrog Cajun Bar is now the newest Bulldog outpost
Downtown gets its very own Bulldog.
Well, that was fast. With very little notice and a very quick turnaround time, the Bullfrog Cajun Bar next door to Butcher and the Boar on Hennepin has transitioned to become the Bulldog Downtown, the latest outpost to join the Northeast, Uptown, and Lowertown locations.
The jambalaya, fried catfish, po' boy sandwiches, and steamed crawdads that once made up the Cajun menu all exited the scene on Friday the 15th, when Bullfrog closed for a fast weekend makeover, reopening as the more burger-and-beer-focused Bulldog by Monday afternoon. Owners Jack Kaster and Matt Lokowich originally opened Bullfrog as an extension of their Bulldog empire, but eventually found that the Southern-tinged menu was neither authentic enough for born-and-raised Southerners nor broadly appealing enough to Minnesota natives.
