Brett Favre, come back! We have Viking purple potato salad!

And so we enter another season of everyone's favorite game, "Will Brett Favre Come Back." If we care about this upcoming football season we all need to do our part to woo him north. For some that will be praying, for others painting their faces with the number 4 and bothering sportscasters as they announce the scores, but for me it's creating a Come Back Brett Purple Potato Salad.

You can get these purple potatoes (Peruvian blue's, actually) in many local co-ops or at the MInneapolis Farmers' Market (right next to the Kettle Corn guy). They taste like regular potatoes, they just happen to be purple inside and out (like so many Vikings fans.)

Here's the recipe.

Cook 6 purple potatoes in the microwave until you can stick a fork through them without hitting anything hard in the middle--about 2 minutes a potato. Let them cool and then cut them into small pieces.

So we've got our purple.

1 spoonful dill
1 spoonful dill

In a large bowl add
1 small can crushed pineapple - there's our gold
1 spoonful dill - green for Brett's Packer days
1 handful chopped onion - for all the tears from that interception in New Orleans
1/2 stick Philadelphia Cream Cheese
1/2 cup Daisy Sour Cream
1 spoonful Dijon mustard
salt and pepper

Stir until even, then add the potatoes and stir until just combined. Serve either warm or cold.
