Borough & World Street Kitchen make Bon Appetit's 50 Best New Restaurant's List
Well, the time has come: Bon Appetit
magazine's Andrew Knowlton has published his list of the 50 best new restaurants
in the United States. It should come as no surprise that Minneapolis has nabbed not one, but two spots on the illustrious list: downtown's Borough and Uptown's World Street Kitchen.
Bon Appetit publishes its list annually; it features newly opened restaurants from across the country. The Twin Cities has been raking in the national attention this year, and if the nod from Bon Appetit is any indicator, we're showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Borough opened up this past winter and has been dazzling diners and drinkers from the moment its doors opened. According to Bon Appetit, "Minneapolis' North Loop neighborhood is packed full of warehouses-turned-restaurants, but the details at Borough (antique-cheese-grater light fixtures, mismatched flatware) set it apart. Two alums from Travail (a previous Bon Appétit Top 50 honoree) helm the kitchen, and their experience shows: From oysters to pasta to tofu, pretty much everything on this eclectic menu is spot-on."
World Street Kitchen is the brainchild of Minneapolis veteran chef Sameh Wadi. The brick-and-mortar version of Wadi's food truck had the luxury of having a fan base before it even had an official space. Since its opening, the fast casual scene in Minneapolis just hasn't been the same. "One of the best restaurants in Minneapolis is also one of its least pretentious. Industrial in look and casual in style -- you walk up to the counter to order, then grab a seat -- WSK is turning out straight-up fantastic international St. food. Come here for knockout rice bowls, 'Bangkok Burritos,' the biggest biscuit sandwiches you've ever seen, and a cheap check," explains Bon Appetit.
Bon Appetit points out a few specific dishes from each restaurant, including Borough's grilled octopus and World Street Kitchen's lamb belly rice bowl.
