Black Forest Oktoberfest offers 10 days of Deutsch-style fun
The Black Forest restaurant kicks off its famous 10-day Oktoberfest celebration this weekend. On Friday, they'll host their annual Prost! Night (with celebrity keg tapper and KARE 11 meteorologist Sven Sundgaard). Saturday is the new Marlene Dietrich Night, featuring Le Cirque Rouge Burlesque and Dreamland Faces, an accordion and saw duo.
The family-owned German eatery is bringing back several returning favorite themes: Wurst Night, Grimm Night, Drain the Keg Night (beer prices drop 50 cents an hour starting at 8 p.m.), and David Hasselhoff night (includes lots of costumes and half-priced burgers--in its final year!). But they've also added four other new events to their Oktoberfest lineup:
Vienna Night (Sunday, Sept. 25)
Enjoy coffee, cake, classical music, and a special on wiener schnitzel
Freudian Slip Night (Tuesday, Sept. 27)
Do not repress your desire to experience this night. Buy any Franziskaner and get a tall logo pint glass for one dollar.
Sturm und Drang (Storm and Urge) Night (Wednesday, Sept. 28)
Get your angst on while you lament the 18th-century German movement of extreme emotion.
Big Brain Night (Thursday, Sept. 29)
The Trivia Mafia will be testing diners' knowledge of Germany, while 20 percent of food sales go to the Germanic-American Institute's Kinderstube German Immersion Preschool.
There will also be a prize drawing featuring such goodies as a 12-18-week language class of your choice at the Germanic-American Institute.
