Birdhouse bids goodbye
E. Katie Holm
The second restaurant from Heidi and Stewart Woodman has officially closed its doors. Although the restaurant had cycled through a couple of chefs, its concept of fresh, healthy, creative food seemed a perfect fit for the neighborhood.
Their Facebook page
announced the news:
"It's with heavy hearts that we share that Birdhouse has closed its doors today. We thank all of our customers who have dined with us over the past year. We look forward to continuing to see and serve you at Heidi's."
Since bursting onto the local scene from New York, chef Stewart Woodman, a onetime Food & Wine Best New Chef, has racked up critical accolades. He has left his mark on the local dining scene. However, their history hasn't all been roses and sunshine. From the closure of their first restaurant, Five, to the fire that destroyed the original incarnation of Heidi's, the Woodmans have faced their share of small business strife. While this may be the end of Birdhouse, we expect to see them rise again in another incarnation, just like another certain bird.
We'll miss the fresh juices, dreamy pea pate, and the happy hours we spent there that lasted long beyond the one-hour mark.
